This interesting figurative landscape oil painting is by British artist Norman Toll. He liked to paint well populated scenes with an event or activity as the focus. Painted circa 1955, the composition is a busy London construction site with numerous workmen and on lookers in the foreground. Beyond, on the scaffolding of a building reads Steelwork by Robinson. A red London bus is in the background. A colourful active scene and an excellent example of Toll's work. |

Biography |
Norman Toll (1932-2014). Formerly Art teacher at Oriel High School and East Norfolk Sixth Form College. As well as teaching Toll continued to pursue his passion as an artist. Toll produced oil paintings of the Great Yarmouth area, often crowded figurative scenes such as Britiannia Pier and the Marching Band. He died aged 82. |
