Description | This charming 19th century British portrait oil painting is attributed to circle of Lidderdale and artist J S W and signed with a monogram. Lidderdale liked to paint single figures in the landscape, especially pretty farm girls. Dated 1882, it is a three quarter length Victorian portrait of a young woman stood in a landscape. She is holding a letter in her hands and gazing wistfully to her left. The vibrant colours of her clothing stand out beautifully against the background of a wooded hill beyond. A lovely Victorian oil painting with great detail, colouring and brushwork. Signed with a monogram and dated lower left. |
