Painted circa 1890 on panel, it is a head and shoulders portrait of a young girl in a straw hat. There is strong brushwork and good heavy impasto in typical Newlyn School. Verso is another lovely painting of pussy willow and catkins. A superb Victorian portrait oil painting. |
