Description | This beautiful 19th century Italian watercolour portrait painting is by noted artist Frederico Bartolini. It was painted circa 1890 in Rome and is signed and in good condition behind glass in a lovely gilded watts frame. It is a full length portrait of an Italian man in casual working clothes, stood on some stone steps with the wall of a building behind him. He is dressed in cream trousers with a red waistcoat and blue jacket over his shoulder. He wears a hat and has a lond staff in one hand. The detail in his face is just beautiful and the muted palette extends to lovely bues in the wall background. This is a lovely Italian Victorian watercolour and an excellent example of Bartolini's work. Signed lower right Bartolini Roma. |

Biography | Federico Bartolini studied at the Academy of San Luca in Rome in 1861. In the 1880s we begin to see his very neat oriental watercolours, probably made from photos and Accessories Workshop exhibitions in Brussels in 1881 and Rome in 1883 among others. |
