Biography |
Ernest Burnett Hood (1932-1988) was born in Edinburgh. He was a painter in oil and watercolour of industrial landscapes and topographical scenes, occasional portraits, still life and scenes from opera: also aquatintist and lithographer. He was educated in Glasgow. After being apprenticed to a lithographer Hood studied at the Glasgow School of Art where he was befriended by William and Mary Armour. Following a period on the staff of GSA he worked as full time painter concentrating on Glasgow scenes sometimes in the form of etchings. He was a keen member of Glasgow Art Club and life-long friend of Alexander Goudie. Hood exhibited RSA (10) between 1956-1972 & GI (122).
