Description | This lovely British portrait oil painting is by Malvern female artist Alys Woodman. Painted in the 1920's the painting is a seated half portrait of a woman with Rossetti-esque auburn hair, with clear influences of the Pre-Raphaelites. The detail in the sitter's face is superb. Woodman would have seen Rossetti and Lord Leighton paintings hanging in Birmingham Art Gallery. A lovely 20's portrait by an exhibited female artist. Signed lower right. |
