Title | Portrait of Mary Haggie |
Description | This lovely British 1920's Art Deco vibrant portrait oil painting is by Charles A. Buchel. Painted in 1925 and signed and dated it is a seated portrait of a young woman, Mary Haggie, in a landscape with a grand building behind, probably the Haggie family home. Mary is wearing a sleeveless green silk dress, her long auburn hair flowing down and held back with a pink bow on one side. She is seated and clasping her hands in her lap, her blue eyes gazing at the artist/viewer. To her right is a tree, to her left, beyond more trees is a large building or stately home. The background is a mix of vibrant blues and oranges. The vivid colours and strong brushwork make this British portrait oil painting of Mary Haggie zing off the canvas and this is a brilliant example of Buchel's work. Signed and dated 'CHARLES BUCHEL 1925' lower left. |
