| Description | This charming British Edwardian portrait oil painting was painted circa 1911. It is indistinctly signed with a monogram lower left, possibly DD. It is a gorgeous half portrait of a young sailor boy, dressed in blue and white and wearing a wide brimmed hat pushed so far back on his head it looks like a golden halo. His ginger hair is married with the orangey background and superb maple frame. Superb impasto and colouring make this a real gem of a painting. Monogram lower left. |
