Description This lovely British Victorian Impressionist oil painting is by noted artist George Thompson. Painted in 1899 it depicts a cockerel and several hens in a wooded landscape with buildings beyond. Thompson has perfectly captured the stances and movement of the chickens as they enjoy scratching around in the grass. Meanwhile the vibrant cockerel stands proud and alert in the foreground. Lovely brushwork and detail. If you like free range chickens and Victorian art then this is the painting for you.
