Title Portrait of Physician Theodore Stacey Wilson (1871-1949)
Description This superb British portrait oil painting is by Birmingham artist Edward Steel Harper Jnr. Painted in 1918, the sitter, Theodore Stacey Wilson M.B BSc, MD, FRCP, is one of the medical greats of Birmingham General Hospital where he was a Physician in 1892. The rather handsome  Wilson is painted at his desk, glasses before him as he writes. He is leaning his elbow on his book 'The Early Diagnosis of Heart Failure' which can still be found on the internet today and is considered 'culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it'. The figure of Wilson in a dark suit stands out beautifully against the umber curtains behind his tall backed ornately carved chair. A really handsome portrait of a prominent cardiologist in Victorian Birmingham.
