Description | This lovely British floral still life oil painting is by noted female artist Alice Mary Burton. Painted in 1965 this pretty floral is of mixed roses; pink, yellow and red with their foliage in a glass vase on a table with a light green background. The colour and details are superb as is the brushwork. This is a very pretty floral oil painting and an excellent example of Burton's work. Signed and dated 1965 lower left. |

Biography | Alice Mary Burton (1893-1968) was born on September 21st 1893 in Nogent-sur-Oise in France. She studied art at the Byam Shaw and Vicat Cole School of Art and at the Regent Street Polytechnic School (Bronze and Silver Medals). She was a portrait and figure painter, although she did produce a few landscapes. She was elected a full Member of the Royal Society of British Artists in 1932. She lived in North Wales (1913), Royal Tunbridge Wells and London (1921). Exhibited: Cooling Galleries 8, Glasgow Institutue 1, Walker Gallery Liverpool 2, Royal Academy 8, Royal Institute 12, Royal Society of British Artists 52 and Royal Society of Portrait Painters. |
