The portrait depicts a nude woman against a background of red and is a real Art Deco gem which was exhibited in Paris. In excellent condition, It is a fine painting by a British listed female artist and a great example of an early 20th century portrait painting. Signed lower left. |

Biography | Dora Crockett. (1888-1953) Crockett was known as a flower, landscape and portrait painter. In the 1930's Crockett and her husband Count Eric Lewenhaupt lived at 72 Ladbrooke rd, London. She had a studio at Lansdowne House, Berkeley Square, Westminster. She was taught by Henry Tonks. She is buried in Harting churchyard, West Sussex. She exhibited Goupil Gallery 72, Liverpool 1, Royal Academy 2, Royal Institute 1, Royal Society of British Artists 1 . Royal Institute of Painters in Oil 3 - as well as in the Paris Salon |
