Description | This lovely exhibited landscape oil painting is by British New English Art Club female artist Evelyn Cheston. It was painted circa 1920 when Cheston was resident in Devon. The view is a coastal landslip landscape. The painting has a wonderful freshness to it and the muted tones are superb. Cheston exhibited 98 paintings at The New English Art Club; founded in London in 1885 as an alternative venue to the Royal Academy. It continues to hold an annual exhibition of paintings and drawings at the Mall Galleries in London, exhibiting works by both members and artists from Britain and abroad whose work has been selected from an annual open submission. |
