Title | Portrait of a Woman at a Window |
Description | This captivating British female portrait oil painting is by noted exhibited and listed female artist Alice Mary Burton. Painted circa 1955, the painting is a three quarter length portrait of a woman gazing out of a window. She is dressed in a pale yellow jumper and black skirt, her hand on her hip. She has dark hair in a bob and she is gazing downwards out of the window. The window is netted and behind her a very colourful curtain. Is she watching someone leaving or arriving or simply watching the world go by or lost in her own thoughts? This is a gorgeous painting with a stunning range of colours and textures and one of our favourites. The brushwork is superb. The soft focus is just beautiful. The painting is by a British listed female artist whose works have sold to the House of Lords and a lovely example of a fifties portrait oil painting. Signed verso on overlap. |
