Biography | Johannes Martinus 'Jan' Vrolijk (1845-1894) was a Dutch landscape and animal artist and a pupil of his brother J.A. Vrolijk. Throughout his life he focused on painting in watercolours and favoured meadow scenes with horses or cattle grazing. His paintings show strong affinity with the paintings of contemporary Willem Maris. Vrolijk lived and worked in The Hague and was a member of the well-known painters' society Pulchri Studio.
