Chlorinda sits at a dressing table with a letter on her lap and appears lost in thought. A charming painting in a fine gilded Victorian Watts frame. Signed lower right.

George Wells (1842-1888). A painter of genre, literary subjects, portraits and landscape, Wells lived in London and Bristol. He exhibited between 1842 and 1888 at the Royal Academy, British Institution, Suffolk Street, New Watercolour Society and elsewhere. |
