Artist Name Stansmore Richmond Leslie Deans (1866-1944)
Title Girl in a Straw Hat
Description This beautiful Scottish Edwardian Impressionist portrait oil painting with excellent provenance is by noted Glasgow Girl artist Stansmore Richmond Leslie Deans. Very evocative of the Glasgow style and period it depicts a “Girl in a Straw Hat”. It was painted circa 1905 and has that wonderful Edwardian charm about it. The composition is a half length portrait of a young lady in semi profile against a deep red background. She is wearing a large cream straw hat with a ribon and matching dress with a high lace neck and long sleeves. Her long auburn hair is cascading over her shoulders. There is bold Impressionistic brushwork  but lovely delicate facial details.  A stunning painting by a very talented female artist with excellent provenance.
