Portrait of an Edwardian lady |
Description |
This lovely British Edwardian portrait oil painting is attributed to circle of John Singer Sargent. Sargent was born in America then trained in Paris before coming to London. Painted circa 1910, this half length portrait is of a seated lady, wearing a red sleeveless dress with a black jacket off her shoulders. She has a red flower on her lapel and is holding a red feather across her lap. Although her body is more profile she is turning her head to the artist/viewer and smiling slightly, suggesting a warmth in their relationship. Her dark hair is swept off her face.
