This charming 17th century Old Master portrait oil painting is attributed to the circle of Swedish born Michael Dahl who lived and work in England for most of his life. Painted circa 1690, the portrait is of a beautiful blonde woman, possibly Swedish. She is dressed in a voluptuous blue silk dress with white sleeves adorned with emerald broaches. She is holding a garland of jasmine flowers, renowned for their rich perfume. The sitter appears to be a woman of wealth and elegance, possibly royalty. |

Michael Dahl (1659–1743) was a Swedish portrait painter who lived and worked in England most of his career and died there. He was one of the most internationally known Swedish painters of his time. He painted portraits of many aristocrats and some members of royal families, such as Queen Anne of Great Britain, Prince George of Denmark and the exiled Queen Christina of Sweden. |
