An original Scottish Impressionist oil by Archibald Kay. This painting is one of his best. It was exhibited at the Royal Academy and the Glasgow Art Club and is dated to 1924. It is a large oil on canvas depicting a seascape at the Marble Quarry at Iona in Scotland. This is a fine example of a Scottish Impressionist oil with good subject. The colouring of the landscape is particularly appealing. Signed lower right Archibald Kay. |

Biography |
Archibald Kay (1860-1935) was born in Glasgow, Scotland. Kay from his earliest years as an artist focused on painting landscapes. He initially studied in Scotland, and later at the famous Academie Julien in Paris. Kay was president of the Glasgow Art Club and was also a member of the Royal Scottish Watercolour Society, Royal Scottish Academy, and the Royal British Colonial Society of Artists. |
